About Suzanne

Suzanne is passionate about education and has dedicated her career to protecting, empowering, and educating youth from urban and high poverty areas.  Over the years she has worked to help children combat stresses.  Together they used obstacles as motivators.  They used the challenges as opportunities to elicit relevant conversations and evoke change.

She believes instruction must be equally gratuitous so children from disadvantaged environments will be able to contribute as viable members of society.  She wants all children to have the tools they need to make their experiences, whether joyous or painful, opportunities for growth.  She has helped teachers and administrators equip students with 21st century skills.  Together they have worked to help children develop their ability to problem solve, resolve conflicts, and collaborate with peers.

As a social worker, she coordinated volunteer programs for seniors and conducted job-readiness trainings and parenting workshops for parents in transition. She also served as a Court Appointed Maryland State Commissioner and worked to ensure the safety of Maryland residents.   For the past 17 years she has worked to help parents educate their children.  As a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator she uses Adlerian concepts to help parents employ discipline strategies that are neither punitive nor permissive.

In her role as a teacher she taught second graders, coordinated programs to meet the needs of the students, and provided professional development sessions.  During the 2015-2016 school year she worked as a Principal in Residence at the High Tech Elementary Chula Vista School in San Diego, California.  During the year she conducted professional development sessions, facilitated improvement research sessions, coached teachers, and modeled lessons.  In addition, she provided international and domestic project-based learning consultation services.

Suzanne earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Management and a Master of Social Work degree from Howard University.  As a White House Intern during President Clinton’s administration she assisted with policy proposals and events for the Domestic Policy Council.  In 2011 she earned a Master of Education degree from George Washington University.  In June of 2016 she earned a Master of Education degree with a concentration in Education Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School of Education.

She loves to interact with others and enjoys opportunities to learn.  In addition to attending live performances, she loves to dance and spend time with loved ones.
